all-earsEveryone has good ideas. Everyone thinks they can do things better. We’ll this is your chance.

LearnAsOne is of ultimately about giving more kids the opportunity to go to school. But it’s also about creating something fun, inspiring, interactive and engaging for you and your friends to get involved with.

So if you have ideas for improving the website, spreading awareness, raising more funds, know people to talk to, organisations to consider working with, ways to get LearnAsOne into the papers or onto the front page of Digg, please share your ideas here.

It doesn’t matter how big or small you think your idea is - please share it in the comments section below. And feel free to help develop or expand on ideas that other people post too.

The more ideas we have between us, the more likely we are to develop good ones that will give more kids the chance to go to school.

    What is LearnAsOne?

LearnAsOne is simple and powerful idea

    • On one side are 80 million children who can’t go to school.
    • On the other is you. And lots of people like you.
    • LearnAsOne is an online space that connects the two groups and provides a way for you to help.

    LearnAsOne does two things:

    1. We locate communities in the developing world that need schools (or teachers or books) and make a commitment to work with them over the long-term. And we set up a blog for each school so you can see exactly how your money will help

    2. And we provide tools like a Facebook group, fundraising pages and an a space to share ideas, which you can use in anyway you like.

Then – unless you have a question – we get out the way and let you get involved in the way that suits you best.

  3. Hello and welcome to LearnAsOne!

LearnAsOne is a brand new digital charity. It provides a way for you (and people like you) to help the 80 million kids around the world who miss out on education because of poverty.

It’s a growing community of people who are working together, AsOne, to give kids in the developing world the opportunity to go to school.

The key idea underpinning LearnAsOne is that you can help in any way you like. Contribute your ideas, do your own fundraising, create web applications to make it easy for others to get involved, use Facebook to tell your friends and generate awareness, talk to the press, tag LearnAsOne on del.icio.us. Or in any other way that appeals to you.

This blog has been set up to share the initial plans for LearnAsOne, to provide a platform where ideas can be discussed and to keep you up-to-date with all the latest goings on. Post your thoughts and comments, and get involved in the LearnAsOne community.

To sign off this first blog entry I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped to get LearnAsOne this far. Without you it would still just be an idea. The website is now live and hopefully it won’t be long until the first groups of kids can go to school. Now, that’s a day to look forward to!
