Why is LearnAsOne here?
80 million primary-school aged children around the world are denied the opportunity to go to school.
- 94% of these children live in developing countries.
Poverty is both the cause and the end result.
LearnAsOne is here so we all have the opportunity to do something about it.
Our combined efforts will provide the following:
- School buildings (new, renovations and extensions)
- Resources (books, pens, furniture etc.)
- Teachers (15 million are needed to enable all primary aged children to go to school)
- Better teacher training (fewer than 25% are professionally qualified in the developing world)
- A basic breakfast (if kids are hungry, they’ll spend their time looking for food, not at school. By providing a nutritious breakfast they can spend their time learning)
- Continuous support (to help the schools improve and run long into the future).
In this for the long haul
LearnAsOne works closely with local communities and listens to their specific needs. Their involvement is crucial in making each school a success. So you needn’t worry that Africa will be flooded with flatpack schools or other unsuitable westernised solutions will be imposed. LearnAsOne is here to do what’s best for the kids in the long-term.
